Fall in GP palliaitve care prescribing

The role of GPs as lead prescribers for palliative care patients is slowly being diminished as other health care professionals - including nurse practitioners – take on a larger role in end-of-life care, a new report shows.

Figures released by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare show that GPs still prescribe 85% of palliative care drugs prescribed under the PBS palliative care-related prescriptions scheme.
