‘Fat burning’ weight loss product to face TGA
Just days after Chika Health launched its HungerBUSTER package – “fat burning” tablets plus a mouth spray with some similar ingredients to the controversial SensaSlim spray – activist Dr Ken Harvey wrote to the TGA questioning the company’s numerous promises and demanding a “post-marketing regulatory compliance review”.
Dr Harvey’s complaint centres on claims in a company press release and in the public documents it submitted to have the product listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods.
Dr Harvey’s concerns included the names of products in the HungerBUSTER pack – Metabolism Kick and Fat Burner Max – which he said “make implicit claims that are unsupportable by evidence”.
He also labelled as “questionable” the company’s claims in Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods listing documents, including that the product “facilitates the body
