Fears patients will forgo pathology tests with rise in costs

Pathologists are warning that the Federal Government's move to axe bulk-billing incentives for pathology will see patients missing out on necessary tests because of rising out of pocket costs.

The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) issued the warning on Wednesday after the plan to end bulk-billing incentives for pathology services and cut incentives for diagnostic imaging from 15% to 10% was revealed in the government's mid-year economic and fiscal outlook (MYEFO).
