Federal Court rules on Nurofen ad misfire
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has won its case against Reckitt Benckiser’s advertising for the Nurofen Specific Pain range.
The Federal Court of Australia ruled that Reckitt Benckiser (Australia) engaged in misleading conduct in contravention of the Australian Consumer Law by representing that the Nurofen Specific Pain products were each formulated to treat a specific type of pain, when the products are identical.
The court has ordered that the products be removed from retail shelves within three months. The company has also been ordered to pay the ACCC
