FIFO workers spreading measles

Australia's reliance on ‘fly-in fly-out' workers has produced another nasty side effect: a rapidly spreading, far-reaching outbreak of measles.

The outbreak, which occurred in December 2011 but was reported for the first time last week, has sparked fresh concern about the health risks associated with the FIFO workforce and its potential to distribute infectious diseases over huge distances.

The epicentre was a large industrial vessel based in the Timor Sea 1500km
