Fighting the good fight

The decision to ban mixed martial arts, also known as cage fighting in Victoria has the full support of the AMA despite the state opposition coming out in favour of the controversial sport.

“While most sport injuries are accidental, the aim of this sport is to purely harm your opponent,” AMA Vice President, Dr Tony Bartone said.

“The contestants ... have an increased risk of developing irreversible, neurological disorders.”
