Flawed funding stymies GP research

Primary care research is being marginalised by an inflexible and flawed funding process, a panel tasked with reviewing Australia’s medical research strategy has heard.

The criticisms were levelled at the NHRMC during Thursday’s meeting in Sydney of the McKeon Review, the last of eight public consultations before Australia’s 10-year research plan is set out.
Professor Dimity Pond (pictured), president of the Australian Association for Academic Primary Care, called for general practice research to be made a health priority, with
