The flu vaccine is more effective if older patients are in a positive mood when they get their jab, UK researchers say.


They found over 65-year-olds who were happy had up to 14% higher antibody levels six weeks after their vaccination.

But being happy only influenced antibodies to the weaker H1NI strain, the researchers report in Brain, Behaviour and Immunity.

The University of Nottingham team measured the mood, diet, exercise and sleep patterns of 138 patients aged 65-85 three times a week.
