Former AMA boss sues over ticket saga

Former AMA president Dr Rosanna Capolingua has launched a defamation case against the West Australian newspaper over its reporting of the Healthway ‘sports ticket scandal'.

Dr Capolingua resigned as chair of the WA health promotion group after investigators revealed the group had obtained 1150 general admission tickets and 650 opportunities for VIP access to elite sporting events and concerts worth $220,000.

About one-fifth of these tickets were used by Healthway management and staff, as well as their friends and families. A WA Public Sector Commission report stressed there was no evidence the perks were sought for private benefit.
