Four reasons codeine should not be OTC

There are four good reasons codeine should not be available over the counter, according to highly regarded West Australian Professor Stephan Schug.

In the lead up to the TGA’s decision on codeine scheduling, Prof Schug, Director of Pain Medicine at Royal Perth Hospital and Chair of Anaesthesiology at the University of Western Australia, argues OTC codeine has no evidence of benefit, only harm from addiction and overdose.
