Frequent debridement key to healing

It's a messy job, but debriding wounds on a regular basis can dramatically accelerate the healing process, the largest-ever investigation into the subject appears to confirm.

The study of almost 313,000 chronic wounds found those debrided weekly or more — by any method — healed significantly faster than those cleaned less often.

Diabetic foot ulcers, for example, healed in 21 days on average if they were debrided at least once a week.
