A major study has been launched in Sydney to determine whether routine use of frozen embryos can boost pregnancy rates in IVF.

Experts believe the approach buys time for a woman's menstrual cycle to recover after ovarian stimulation, potentially overcoming one of the key hurdles faced with using fresh embryos.

Now researchers at Genea, a NSW fertility and IVF research company, are recruiting 200 patients to test the hypothesis, by freezing embryos immediately after harvesting
