Govt consent form not enough to protect GPs in negligence suits

GPs who relied on the Federal Health Department’s consent form for pandemic (H1N1) 2009 influenza virus vaccinations could be held liable in the event a patient contracted an infection resulting from the use of multidose vials (MDVs), two academics have argued.

Writing in the most recent MJA, research psychologists Dr Mark Diamond (PhD) and Dr Angela O’Brien-Malone (PhD) of the University of Tasmania recalled the 2009 swine flu epidemic and the use of the MDVs to supply the vaccine.
