Govt in court over 'illegal' PSR laws

The Federal Court of Australia will decide whether retrospective laws introduced to prevent about 40 doctors from challenging decisions of the Professional Services Review are unconstitutional.

The case comes in the aftermath of the long-running saga enveloping the PSR after it emerged that between 2005 and 2009 the watchdog's committee set up to make judgements against doctors for inappropriate practice was "legally invalid".
