Govt defends revamp of GP training in Aboriginal health

Plans to restrict the salary support offered to GP registrars training in Aboriginal medical services will result in more registrars being exposed to Indigenous health, the Federal Government says.

There is growing alarm about planned changes to the so-called Salary Support scheme, where Aboriginal medical clinics receive funding to employ an individual GP registrar for up to three years of their training.
