Govt ditches High Court PSR fight

The Federal Government has ditched its High Court appeal against four doctors who successfully challenged orders by the Professional Services Review (PSR) to repay Medicare thousands of dollars.

A spokesman for health minister Tanya Plibersek confirmed Tuesday that the government had "decided not to proceed with its appeal" against the doctors, which was scheduled to go ahead next week.
Instead, the government says it is confident it can prevent further challenges to the PSR's findings through legislation that retrospectively validates other PSR
