Govt promises $1m for doctors' mental health
The government will invest $1 million in mental health programs for doctors, following the tragic suicide of registrar Dr Chloe Abbott.
Recalling the January death of the young doctor-in-training, health minister Greg Hunt vowed at last week's AMA national conference to develop a program aimed at preventing suicide in the profession.
“I am determined to offer a partnership with the government and the AMA for us to provide new investment directly into caring for carers,” Mr Hunt told the Melbourne conference.
