Govt to slash GP rebates for non-concessional patients
GP rebates for non-concessional patients will be cut by $5 under the Federal Government's alternative to its doomed co-pay plan.
And in a hammer blow GPs will only be able to claim level B rebates for consultations lasting over ten minutes rather than the current six minutes.
In a statement on Tuesday afternoon, Prime Minister Tony Abbott claimed that the government had "listened to the community".
But the package of measures will apparently cut some $3 billion in GP funding over the forward estimates.
