Govt tables Bill to protect location rules

The legislation aims to remove the sunset clause of the National Health Act

The Federal Government has tabled a bill to protect location rules beyond 2020.


The aim of the bill is to remove the sunset clause in the National Health Act that would have seen location rules end in just under three years.

“The location rules are in place to ensure a suitable geographic spread of pharmacies approved to supply PBS medicines, including in rural and remote regions of Australia,” the Minister for Health,Greg Hunt, said on the second reading of the Bill.
