Govt urged to end ML rollout delays

THE health industry should “get on with the job” of introducing Medicare Locals and the Government should broaden the role of nurse practitioners and overhaul the appointment of health service managers, according to National Rural Health Alliance recommendations endorsed last week.

NRHA executive director Gordon Gregory said the 31 member bodies that make up the alliance had officially endorsed the move as a priority among a list of recommendations from the recent National Rural Health Conference and would now begin lobbying State and Federal Governments.

Mr Gregory said it was essential that MLs
