GP accused of secretly filming patients

A British court heard he had 19,000 images on his laptop

A British GP who allegedly secretly filmed female patients for sexual gratification had 19,000 images of the women on his computer, a court has heard.

Dr Thair Altaii denies voyeurism charges, claiming the images and footage were taken at his surgery for training and self-assessment, according to UK media reports.

The 55 year-old who owns a practice in the north-east of England is standing trial accused of three voyeurism charges between 2008 and 2014 in relation to two female patients and more than 300 pictures.

But jurors heard there may be as many as 19,000 images of women on Dr Altaii’s laptop, which were “apparently taken in the surgery environment”, along with video footage.

The recovered images of one of the complainants, which were shown to the jury, included her in various states of undress.

A video clip was played to the court, which shows Dr Altaii appearing to ready the mobile
