GP 'admin consults' under threat of MBS review

Medicare funding for so-called “administrative GP consults”, such as appointments to deliver routine test results, is likely to be investigated by the Medicare Review Taskforce.

The claims about the allegedly low value of the consults are quoted in the taskforce's interim report published on Tuesday.
The report says: "GP consultations that were considered to be administrative rather than diagnostic or treatment focused were commonly cited as low value by health professionals and consumers."
