GP admits forging colleagues’ opioid scripts
A NSW GP and practice owner with a chequered disciplinary history is serving a fresh suspension after admitting to forging pethidine scripts in the names of two colleagues in order to self-administer the drug.
Dr Johannes Bester was practising under long-standing prescribing restrictions when, in November 2013, he accessed computers at his Central Coast clinic with the passwords of his colleagues and created 10 false prescriptions for the drug.
The NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal found he had done so in order to keep some of the dispensed drug for his own use.
