GP clinic in health boss's backyard stops bulk-billing

Less than one week after the Department of Health's boss said he did not know any GP clinics that had stopped bulk-billing due to the Medicare freeze, it has emerged there is one on his doorstep.

Primary Health Care, the GP corporate giant famed for its universal bulk-billing policy, is now charging up to $100 a consultation at one of its Canberra practices.

Patients at the Phillip Medical and Dental Centre pay $90 for a consultation on weekdays and $100 on Saturday. Only pensioners and concession card holders are bulk-billed.
