GP fined for interfering with palliative care

A GP who gave false hope to a dying 30-year-old cancer patient, interfered with his palliative care and prescribed a futile $3500 nutritional program has been fined $12,000 and banned from treating patients with cancer or terminal illnesses.

But the the South Australian Health Practitioners Tribunal said it had “some understanding” Dr James Chon Fatt Siow’s motives, given that his late father’s dying wish was for him to seek out cancer cures.
