GP grief counselling outdated, ‘piecemeal': study

GPs have an outdated approach to grief counselling, potentially placing patients under additional stress at a vulnerable time, researchers say.  

Writing in this week’s BMC Medical Education the researchers from the School of Psychology at Curtin University in Perth said GPs had a critical role in helping patients explore grief, yet education was lacking at the undergraduate level and in ongoing professional development.
