GP implicated in oral sex and blackmail scandal

A Perth GP who accused his patient of trying to blackmail him for $10,000 after she performed fellatio on him during a consultation could soon face deregistration.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was acquitted last year in the District Court, despite the doctor, Vipin Lal, continuing to assert that he was the victim of a money extortion attempt.

That is until last month when he finally admitted the relationship with his patient had been consensual and that he had lied to police, the Medical Board of Australia and AHPRA about the oral sex incident.
