GP a key player in prescription drug ring

An Australian GP with "brain dysfunction" has been revealed as a key player in an international prescription drug ring where thousands of medications were sent to the US.

Together with a pharmacist in the exclusive Sydney suburb of Watsons Bay, Dr John McKenzie was chiefly responsible for dispensing 60-100 medications daily to US patients over a period of two years.

Under the scheme, US patients seeking cheaper medications — mainly Lipitor (atorvastatin calcium) and Celebrex (celecoxib) — sent their prescriptions to Canadian pharmacies, who then forwarded them to
