GP ordered to study ethics for patient loan

The Medical Council of NSW’s Professional Standards Committee said Sydney based Dr Joachim Fluhrer’s behaviour fell “significantly below the relevant standard and is improper and unethical” in relation to the loan which was never repaid.

It said Dr Fluhrer denied most aspects of the complaint, including that he asked the couple for a loan, that he only considered the loan was from the woman’s husband, who wasn’t his patient, and that he never went to the couple’s home to discuss the loan and ultimately have them sign it in March 2006.
