GPs to enlist patients to fight mental health cuts

POLL Would you enlist your patients in a campaign to overturn budget cuts?

MILLIONS of Australians will be enlisted by their GP to help overturn the Federal Government’s Budget plan to slash Medicare rebates for mental health consultations.

A nationwide campaign involving posters in GP waiting rooms and discussions with patients on the cuts is expected to begin shortly, after a recent crisis meeting of United General Practice Australia (UGPA) members – the umbrella group for Australia’s six peak GP bodies.
