GPs slam decision to end Healthy Kids Check

The abolition of Healthy Kids Check from 1 November is an unwarranted and retrograde step for preventive health, GP academics say.

Health Minister Sussan Ley’s decision to scrap the $137.90 MBS item cannot be justified by alleged lack of evidence of benefits for children or duplication with state-funded child health services, says Dr Karyn Alexander and Professor Danielle Mazza of the department of general practice at Monash University, Melbourne.
