GPs split on best way to tackle climate change

MOST Australian GPs accept climate change is affecting the planet, but the profession is split over the best way to combat it, an MO poll has revealed.

The national poll showed while 70% of the 152 GPs surveyed believed in the science behind climate change, nearly half of respondents thought the Government’s proposed carbon tax would unreasonably increase the cost of living.

However, more than one-third still supported the measure, saying it would make polluters pay and benefit the environment in the long term. Only 17% did not believe there was enough evidence
