GPs’ swift action ups cancer survival

Average waiting times for diagnostic tests such as X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds and MRIs are much shorter in NSW and Victoria than in many other developed countries, a benchmarking study shows.

Nearly 3,000 GPs in 11 jurisdictions across eight countries were asked how they would investigate patients presenting on three successive occasions with emerging symptoms compatible with lung, ovarian or colorectal cancer, described in vignettes.
