Australia's first GP authorised to prescribe medical cannabis is calling on the RACGP to take the lead in educating doctors about the drug to meet growing patient demand.

Associate Professor Vicki Kotsirilos (pictured) says she has already written her first cannabis script, less than a week after gaining TGA authorisation to prescribe without the need for federal bureaucrats to approve each case.
