Green award for training providers
REGIONAL training providers (RTPs) that make efforts to tip-toe across the earth these days, instead of leaving heavy carbon footprints, may soon be recognised for their work.
Part of the GPET Awards program for 2011, the Environmental Encouragement Award is designed to reward RTPs that are taking the ‘green’ path to training the next generation of GPs.
Last year’s winner, Tropical Medicine Training in Townsville, impressed the judges with its whole-of-business focus on sustainability.
The Queensland RTP aimed to ‘green’ its activities from start to finish, developing a policy that would provide clear guidance for environmentally friendly practices and also communicate its goal for reducing environmental impact.
Tropical Medicine committed to responsible use of water, energy and consumables, using environmentally responsible suppliers, minimising waste, and educating and informing staff about the initiative
