GSK recalls Ventolin, Asmol inhalers

Ten batches of Ventolin and Asmol inhalers are being recalled in Australia due to faults with the drug delivery mechanism.

The glitch causes the devices to deliver less salbutamol per puff than usual.

In some cases the amount was as low as one-third of a normal dose.

Aside from possible underdosing, the fault poses no serious risk to patients' health, according to a statement from GlaxoSmithKline, which initiated the recall in December.
