Guild and Diabetes Australia pledge to work together

The Pharmacy Guild and Diabetes Australia have pledged to work together to better help patients with diabetes.

They have signed a memorandum of understanding to improve available services.

The groups will also forge a united front when negotiating or discussing with government the National Diabetes Services Scheme.

Diabetes Australia CEO Associate professor Greg Johnson says common areas of interest include:

  • The Health Care Homes initiative and the Pharmacy Trials;
  • More affordable access to medications and technology; and
  • Early detection and prevention programs.

“The scale and impact of the diabetes epidemic continues to grow with over 100,000 new people with diabetes in just the past year,” Professor Johnson says.

“We must work smarter to help and support people with
