Guild launches heartburn course for assistants
A 30-minute online course has been launched to help pharmacy assistants serve heartburn sufferers seeking assistance.
Offered by the Guild Pharmacy Academy in collaboration with Pfizer, it helps assistants understand the heartburn, the medicines used to treat it and when referral to the pharmacist is appropriate.
The Guild Pharmacy Academy notes that heartburn can affect patients’ daily life, disrupting their sleep, stopping them from playing sport or concentrating at work. And it may cause anxiety or frustration when trying to enjoy social occasions, such as dining out and travel.
The QCPP Refresher Training online course, which reinforces the use of the Ask-Assess-Advise questions, also adds to pharmacy assistants’ annual three hours of QCPP Refresher Training requirement.
