Guild ramps up bid for real-time monitoring

The Pharmacy Guild has ramped its lobbying for Australia to introduce a mandatory real-time monitoring system for OTC medications.

It says this would be a good way to reduce dependency to codeine and other drugs. Other useful measures include changes to packaging and labelling, improved education for health professionals, and consumer awareness campaigns.

It, however, opposes the idea of making codeine a prescription-only medication.
