Hashtag or harsh-tag? #DoctorsAreDickheads has been trending for weeks

Doctors and their families have taken to Twitter to defend the medical profession

Doctors and their families have taken to the internet to defend themselves against the hashtag #DoctorsAreDickheads that has been trending on Twitter for the past two weeks.

The hashtag started after Stevie Boebi, a young woman from the US, posted a YouTube video (see below) on 22 October about the length of time it took to diagnose her medical condition, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

She ends the 11-minute video with the words, "doctors are dickheads".

The phrase has caught on and has been used thousands of times by people posting about medical grievances, including misdiagnoses, wrong treatments and instances where doctors have been dismissive or rude.
