Health body backs self-medication with cannabis

Self-medicating with cannabis is OK, says the Public Health Association of Australia, but only under certain conditions

Throwing its support behind the legalisation of the drug, the PHAA believes “seriously and terminally ill individuals … [should be] able to possess and use cannabis without penalty”.

And it is recommending the starting point for a national medicinal cannabis regime be the proposals currently before the NSW and ACT legislatures for it to be available to terminally ill people with their doctor’s approval.
