Health damage from youth diabetes hard to reverse

The findings suggested the answer was “don’t get diabetes in the first place”, lead author Dr Phil Zeitler, from the University of Colorado Denver, said.

The TODAY study (Treatment Options for Type 2 Diabetes in Adolescents and Youth) randomised 699 patients aged 10 to 17 years to metformin, metformin plus rosiglitazone or metformin plus an intensive lifestyle intervention program.
