Heavy doctors light on obesity care

Doctors who are overweight themselves are far more forgiving when it comes to tackling patients' weight than their thinner colleagues, according to new research which suggests a doctor’s BMI has a direct impact on how they manage obesity.

The study shows that overweight doctors are less likely to initiate a conversation about weight loss with their patients, and to record a diagnosis of obesity in their notes, than doctors with a normal BMI.
