Helicopter mums create heavier kids

Overprotective mothers run the risk of having overweight or obese children, according to the first study to show evidence that helicopter parenting and childhood obesity are inextricably linked.

While there has been much speculation about this connection, researchers from the University of Western Australia have now confirmed that children with highly protective mothers are at a 13% increased risk of unhealthily high BMI by the time they are 10 or 11.
