High adverse drug event-linked ED admission rate

More needs to be done to confront the problem of adverse drug events (ADE), say Australian researchers, after their study revealed a high percentage of hospital ED admissions were due to these events.

Of 370 ED admissions to an Australian metropolitan teaching hospital, 16% were confirmed ADE-related admissions, a “higher frequency than reported previously in international prospective studies,” the authors said.
