Higher step counts lead to fewer hospital stays

Older people can reduce their time spent in hospital by walking an extra 4300 steps a day, say epidemiologists.

Their research, published in the MJA, shows an increase in step count from 4500 to 8800 steps per day is associated with 0.36 fewer hospital bed-days per person per year.
