Honey before bed soothes kids’ coughs

A heaped teaspoon of honey before bedtime is a safe and effective way to soothe cough in children, a study finds.

Just one 10g dose of honey was found to help relieve nighttime cough and sleeping difficulties, compared with placebo, in children with upper respiratory tract infections.

The study saw 270 Israeli children given eucalyptus honey, citrus honey, labiatae honey or placebo half-an-hour before sleep one night.
