Honey, I shrunk the granuloma
The imprecisely named pyogenic granulomas (which bleed, but do not exude pus) can quickly become large and painful.
This was the case with the pictured lesion, which was unveiled during a busy consultation and clearly required either excision or curettage with diathermy. While waiting for excision, however, the patient would be lumbered with a sore, bleeding, messy lesion.
A quick paint with silver nitrate shrank and dried the granuloma, and also made the eventual excision easier.
