Hot new cancer treatment on trial

An experimental cancer treatment is being offered to Australians with the launch of the country’s first clinical trial of hyperthermia.

The treatment, which involves application of controlled heat to kill or damage cancer cells, is gaining traction overseas, despite only a small body of evidence suggesting that it is effective.

The Melbourne-based National Institute of Integrative Medicine announced last week it was launching a hyperthermia trial after buying a machine that carries out whole-body and loco-regional treatment
