Hot weather increases hospital admissions

When temperatures rise, so too do hospital admissions, surging across virtually the entire disease spectrum, Australian research finds.

The Sydney-based study found admissions for diabetes, psychiatric, respiratory and cardiovascular disease all increase on hot days, as well as admissions for dehydration and heatstroke.

The only exception was genitourinary and kidney diseases which, contrary, to previous study findings, appeared not to be exacerbated by hot weather.
